The lineage
We practise traditional Aikido, which traces its lineage by direct personal transmission from the Founder of the Art, through his apprentice and personal student T.K. Chiba, 8th Dan Shihan, to Chris Mooney, 7th Dan Shihan.
Our school
In our school, Aikido is mainly trained through body art and weapon work (jo, bokken and tantō). It is also complemented by the practice of Iai Battō Hō and Zazen.

Iai Battō Hō

Zazen
Unarmed (empty hand) is the main form of our training and is done through both solo and partner practice
We practice jo (wooden staff), bokken (wooden Japanese sword) and tantō (wooden Japanese dagger) to develop and refine our Body Art
The art of drawing, cutting with and resheathing the Japanese sword is complementary to our Aikido practice
Zazen is the simple practice of sitting still and practicing mindfulness. It is another pillar of our Aikido practice
